Highlight Items

I am probably missing this setting some where, but when I add an application like downloads, everything shows up, but am I missing something where I can enable the selection to be highlighted?

Is this a CSS change somewhere? using a block menu / primary / click / slide / fast / 

Menu looks perfect, just need the selections highlighted.

I noticed the same with your "Activity" section in your site. When you click on it and hover over the items none get highlighted. Would I have to create a Magicbox in order to create the items to be highlighted instead of an application?

highlighting on hover over would be done with css, something like:
