Report reply InsideEdge 0 Posted October 23, 2017 Hello Michael, I uploaded the most recent version of Babble on Saturday. My members and I noticed disconnections from Babble. But that wasn't the worst of it all. Several members and I have had a series of excessive IP logins 1000-2000 in short periods of time for our site login accounts causing an auto Block to that IP address and members cannot access the website. I've had a support ticket with IPS since Saturday and thus far I've noticed that 5 of the 6 of us that were in babble chat on Saturday have been blocked from the website. I believe all of us have regained access since then maybe a few more devices need clearing. IPS has suggested that I disable Babble to see if the issue goes away. Not all of us were blocked at the same time, but somehow an outside source has obtained our IP Addresses and pings them as logins which result in IP addresses being blocked by the IPS security auto- software. I'm not sure if any of your other users have experienced this. But since Saturday I've had myself and 4 other moderators blocked from my site for the numerous IP logins and we have all used Babble. Others may be blocked and have not been able to contact me because they can't view the website. Can you check the Babble logs for my site? Thanks Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Report reply Michael 263 Posted October 24, 2017 babble doesn't do any logins. there are only 3 ways babbles makes contact with your server after the initial load,, first one is when they send a message, second one is they return from idle (it does a ajax request to see if there are any missed messages) and the final one is if they click on "load more", it will make an ajax request to load additional messages. all other connections, messages sent/received/online list/etc are made thru the websocket connection to my servers. whatever the cause i don't believe babble to have been the culprit of it. the only other report i've had, was the chat service was unstable on saturday, but i haven't seen any direct cause for it. Report reply InsideEdge 0 Posted October 24, 2017 Thanks for the info, I'll forward this to support at IPS. Rhett has been handling my support ticket . To the best of my knowledge, they haven't seen this sort of issue before like this. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Report reply Michael 263 Posted October 24, 2017 it's defacto IPS policy i do believe to blame anything and everything on third party first. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Report reply InsideEdge 0 Posted October 24, 2017 I have no idea what caused this. My account too was blocked, and I was asked what was I doing to attempt over 2000 logins Saturday early evening when I wasn't even online, but logged in sleep mode on computer and phone. I had been on Babble earlier in the afternoon. It is just really weird. The last member block that I know of was yesterday a day after I submitted the ticket. This member had over 5000 logins. -- None of this makes any sense to me. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
